2014: CAS reduces suspension from eighteen to six months, accepting contaminated supplement explanation

Civil / administrative proceedings

CAS initially granted a stay allowing Powell to compete, then partially upheld his appeal and reduced the suspension from eighteen to six months. The proceedings established that the oxilofrine came from a contaminated version of a legal supplement, Epiphany D1; Powell was therefore able to resume competition immediately, having already served the suspension period.
