2025: SVT investigation into the childhood accounts in “Monster”

No legal proceedings

SVT’s “Hatet” documentary found that the social-service records examined did not corroborate particular instances of childhood abuse described by Joakim Lundell. His account became publicly disputed, but the absence of evidence in those records does not prove the abuse never happened. In April 2026, Sweden’s broadcasting review board found the documentary consistent with impartiality and accuracy obligations.

State of the evidence
SVT’s review of records and the broadcasting review board’s April 2026 decision.
Legal status — source text
Journalistic investigation and broadcasting review resolved in SVT’s favour; no judgment against Lundell.
Attribution
Alleged discrepancies between his public claims and available records.
