2018: Australian military ends partnership over past remarks

No legal proceedings

Reports drew attention to 2016–17 gaming videos in which Watkins used or laughed at language deemed offensive concerning sexual assault and cancer. Australia’s Defence Force had paid for recruitment-related videos with Watkins and fellow creator ChampChong; Defence Minister Marise Payne ordered the arrangement ended, saying such material was incompatible with the military. The most explicitly racist social-media posts quoted in the coverage were attributed to ChampChong, not Watkins.

State of the evidence
Earlier gaming videos examined by the press and the minister’s reported order to terminate the partnership.
Legal status — source text
Public-sector partnership terminated in August 2018; no known court proceedings.
Attribution
Offensive gaming-language allegations concerning Watkins; his collaborator’s posts must not be attributed to him.
