Sophie Elise

Also known as: Sofie Steen Isachsen, Sophie Elise Isachsen, Sofie Elise Isachsen

Norwegian influencer and entrepreneur born in 1994, known for social media and the Glöd brand.

Sophie Elise, born Sofie Steen Isachsen, is a Norwegian influencer and entrepreneur frequently involved in public debates about beauty standards and marketing. In 2021 her company received an administrative penalty for covert advertising and unsolicited commercial emails; this was not a personal conviction. In 2023 an Instagram photo and a disagreement with broadcaster NRK generated controversy, while she testified in court about the photo in 2026. In January 2026 a regulator ordered changes to advertising for a Glöd sunscreen sold by another company, with no financial penalty announced.

Civil / administrative proceedings — against Elle Basic AS (exploitant de Glöd)

Protagonist not prosecuted — these proceedings are not counted in their formal charges or convictions.

On 9 January 2026, the press reported that Mattilsynet had found marketing of Glöd “Dry Oil” sunscreen with progressive SPF values up to 50 to be unlawful. The order, addressed to Elle Basic AS, required changes to or withdrawal of the advertising and correction of products on sale. Reports said the regulator did not intend to impose a fine; no personal penalty against Sophie Elise was announced.

2025: experts challenge SPF claims made by Glöd sunscreen range

Civil / administrative proceedings — against Elle Basic AS (exploitant de Glöd)

Protagonist not prosecuted — these proceedings are not counted in their formal charges or convictions.

Cosmetics brand Glöd advertised a sunscreen spray with SPF 20, 30 or 50 depending on the number of layers applied. Experts interviewed by DinSide said the claimed increase was unproven and potentially misleading. In November, Norwegian food-safety regulator Mattilsynet notified the operating company of proposed action after examining evidence supporting only SPF 20.

2021: NOK 200,000 administrative fine against Sophie Elise AS

Civil / administrative proceedings — against Sophie Elise AS

Protagonist not prosecuted — these proceedings are not counted in their formal charges or convictions.

Norway’s Consumer Authority imposed a NOK 200,000 administrative penalty on Sophie Elise AS over marketing of the “Litt Sophie” book club: apparently personal content used for advertising and commercial emails sent without valid consent. Strawberry Publishing AS received a separate NOK 300,000 penalty. The companies contested the covert-advertising finding; this was an administrative decision against corporate entities, not a criminal conviction of the influencer.

State of the evidence
